Infrared saunas work by heating the body rather than the air. This heat can penetrate deeper, raising your core body temperature by 3℃ (~5.4℉). According to Sunlighten®, their Infrared saunas can have numerous health benefits.
Lower Blood Pressure
Infrared saunas induce a deep sweat to make the heart pump faster, which in turn increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and helps circulation.
Lose Weight
During infrared sauna therapy sessions, the human body can burn nearly 600 calories. As the body heats up, it must expend energy to cool itself, increasing heart rate, cardiac output, and metabolic rates, causing the body to burn more calories.
Anti-Aging
Near infrared saunas provide the most effective wavelength for healing the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production to reduce wrinkles and improve overall skin tone.
Improved Circulation & Cell Health
Near infrared sauna therapy stimulates the circulatory system to more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation can lead to improved cell health, improved muscle recovery, and strengthened immune system.
Pain Relief
Infrared heat penetrates muscles and joints deeply to provide maximum relief from minor aches and pains and chronic conditions and speeds up recovery time.
Heal
Near infrared therapy enhances the skin’s healing process by promoting faster cell regeneration and human tissue growth.
Our infrared saunas by Sunlighten® allow one or two people to enjoy a deep, penetrating sauna experience. Sunlighten® infrared saunas combine 3 infrared wavelengths to maximize the health benefits of the chromotherapy. These modern saunas allow for a personalized experience for each guest, giving the options to choose what health benefits you would like to get from the experience, choose the temperature, and to add vibration and sound (Acoustic Resonance Therapy) for even deeper relaxation.
Infrared wavelengths are in the invisible portion of the sun's spectrum of light that don't contain the harmful UV rays that are associated with skin damage and cancers. A human body can be exposed to infrared light for hours without burning the skin. Eyes may be damaged by infrared light, so we recommend that our guests enjoy the infrared saunas with eyes closed for the majority of the session. We also recommend enjoying our sauna experience after hydrating well and ending the session when you feel ready to reduce risk of overheating and dehydration.
The core body temperature of children rises much faster than adult-sized bodies. Children may only enter for periods of 15 minutes or less when accompanied by an adult with the sauna set to the lowest setting.
Saunas of any kind can raise the body temperature to an unsafe level for a pregnancy. We do not recommend the use of our infrared saunas for those that are pregnant. Wait until after pregnancy to enjoy the health benefits of our infrared saunas.
We recommend that first time users take it slow, starting with shorter sessions and spacing them out. Each person is different, but some experienced sauna users may use a sauna daily. It’s important to hydrate well before and after each session and listen to your body when asking whether or not increasing sessions may be safe for you.
We recommend wearing as little as possible while using the infrared sauna to enable maximum penetration. Cotton towels, gym shorts, or swimsuits are all suitable options depending on your comfort level.
This depends on your hydration level and your natural sweat levels. Some sauna users report not sweating during the first few sessions, though most experience some sweating. Sweating usually increases with regular use. Make sure to drink water before using the infrared sauna to reduce the chance of dehydration and overheating and to increase your chances of sweating more.
Are there any Health Concerns that Would Prevent Me From Safely Using a Sauna?
If you have any concerns about your health and using our spa services, consult a doctor. Saunas should not be used during pregnancy due to the risk of overheating. If you are taking prescription medicine, have a heart condition, have a pacemaker, have a reduced ability to sweat due to a chronic condition, have hemophilia, have a heat sensitivity condition, have a recent acute injury, or any other health condition that might make the experience unsafe, you should consult a doctor before entering one of our infrared saunas.
